A common measurement for fitness among competitive cyclists is "watts/kg of body mass" at 'threshold' which is what you can sustain for about an hour. Last year I was around 5.1 watts/kg at 185bpm. The TDF winner this year is probably somewhere near 6.5 watts/kg, he also weighs the same as me, 60kg. That's 390watts to my ~310.
A month ago after a nearly 6 month break from cycling, I was at about 2 watts/kg at 205bpm. Today I did 3.8 at 195bpm after cycling about an hour every other day. My max HR has also dropped from 218 to 210 in a few weeks.
Interestingly I weigh exactly the same as I did at my peak fitness, although my scale says my body fat has gone from 5% to 11%. Although it only measures impedance through your feet, so it's not terribly accurate.
Anyway, I'm trying to get back into the swing of things in preparation for living on the side of a 10,000ft mountain. Christine and I have our tickets booked and the movers scheduled. We're moving in early October.
